1846 – The story begins in a forge in the town of Wald, near Solingen, in North Rhine-Westphalia. The owner, Josua Kortz has several friends working for him, including his nephew, Robert Krups. The latter’s son, also called Robert, will turn the forge into an industrial company.

1866 After transferring their operations to Solingen, Robert Krups (the second to bear the name) and four of his nine children quickly transforms the company into a renowned factory, delivering its products to Holland and Switzerland
